L’histoire de Charles commence avec son premier diplôme à l’université Queen’s, où deux choses se sont produites : il a suivi un cours intitulé « Critical Perspectives on Business » (Perspectives critiques sur les affaires), et il a appris à faire du break (un style de danse Hip Hop). Désabusé par le capitalisme, il a abandonné son projet de devenir consultant en gestion et a décidé de se lancer dans une vie d’artiste professionnel, afin de trouver un moyen d’exister de manière authentique dans ce monde. Passionné par la culture Hip Hop, il s’est formé auprès des meilleurs danseurs en Corée, aux États-Unis et en Europe, remportant des battles à travers le monde et organisant même son propre festival annuel de street dance à Kingston, Ontario.

Suivant son envie d’en dire plus à travers son art, en particulier pour dénoncer les injustices sociales dont il était témoin au quotidien, il a étudié le théâtre à l’université Concordia en 2018, où son projet actuel, « Welcome to the Digital Desert », a vu le jour et sera présenté en première à LaChapelle Scènes Contemporaines en 2027. Cependant, il ne pouvait pas attendre jusque-là pour s’exprimer sur la montée du fascisme et l’effondrement écologique qu’il vivait. Il en a assez de céder le pouvoir politique aux riches et aux puissants, et s’est lancé tête baissée dans l’activisme et l’organisation communautaire, travaillant avec des groupes d’action climatique et de justice sociale tels que Last Generation Canada, la Youth Climate Corps Campaign et Draw the Line. Charles se présente aujourd’hui aux élections municipales avec Transition Montréal en tant que conseiller d’arrondissement pour De Lorimier. Il envisage un monde où l’abondance offerte par nos civilisations et la Terre est répartie équitablement pour que tout le monde puisse s’épanouir, et pas seulement quelques privilégiés, et il commence ici, à Montréal.

Charles’ story began with his first degree at Queen’s University, where two things happened: he took a course called “Critical Perspectives on Business,” and he learned how to break (a Hip Hop dance style). Disillusioned with capitalism, he abandoned his plans to become a management consultant and decided to pursue a career as a professional artist, in order to find a way to exist authentically in this world. Passionate about Hip Hop culture, he trained with the best dancers in Korea, the United States, and Europe, winning battles around the world and even organizing his own annual streetdance festival in Kingston, Ontario.

Following his desire to say more through his art, particularly to denounce the social injustices he witnessed on a daily basis, he studied theater at Concordia University in 2018, where his current project, “Welcome to the Digital Desert,” was born and will premiere at LaChapelle Scènes Contemporaines in 2027. However, he couldn’t wait until then to speak out about the rise of fascism and the ecological collapse he was experiencing. He’s tired of handing the keys to political power to the rich and powerful, and has thrown himself headlong into activism and community organizing, working with climate action and social justice groups such as Last Generation Canada, the Youth Climate Corps Campaign, and Draw the Line. Charles is now running for the municipal election with Transition Montreal as borough councilor for De Lorimier. He envisions a world where the abundance offered by our civilizations and the Earth is distributed equitably so that everyone can thrive, not just a privileged few, and he is starting here, in Montreal.
