Hello Matt & Jamon! As I mentioned in my video, I do web design for small businesses, which I taught myself how to do. I use HTML/CSS, and WordPress. This was the first website I ever made for my breakdance crew in Kingston: KinetiQ Crew Golden Swan was an up and coming massage therapy clinic based in Ottawa. They needed a new website that reflected the elegance of their method: Golden Swan Lucky House is an Ottawa restaurant that needed an update to their old website. I used WordPress so that they could make their own menu changes: Lucky House Takeout ProofIt was a Toronto startup that aimed to make …..
This website was started on WordPress as a way to consolidate information about the Canadian breaking scene in one online source. The project has since shifted to different priorities. Click here to view the site.
A sports bar in Gatineau needed a new website as well as photographs for their online promotion. I wanted to give the bar a classy feel, as reflected in the nature of the photos I took, as well as the gold on black colour scheme. All the hero images are photographs of the actual bar. Take a look at the website here. Built on using Bootstrap and the Greyscale theme.
Proof. It Rentals was one of a number of new start-ups catering to rental housing market inefficiencies. Proof. It sought to be the premier source for rental housing information and ratings, expanding into more comprehensive services for landlords in the future. I went for an clean and elegant interface using a beautiful photograph of the Toronto skyline for the hero image. By having only two options on the homepage, it was obvious to both new users and old users what the purpose of the website was for and made it easy to access the primary functions of the website. I designed a new blog format, new form layouts for writing a review …..
Forgotten Styles is an annual bboy (breakdance) competition that I organize with the help of KinetiQ Crew in Kingston. As the only guy with any sort of design experience, I am the one who does all the promotional material.
The Sleepless Goat used to employ me as a cook, and while I was working there I decided to give their site a refresh. It hasn’t been implemented yet (co-ops can be a little slow to change), but the new design is a great improvement over the current website. The design was inspired by the interior of the Goat itself, with chalkboards, retro typography, and pastel colours. Check out the new site here.
One of my first forays into web design was the KinetiQ Crew website. KinetiQ Crew is currently Kingston’s only breaking (breakdance) crew and they needed to promote and establish an online presence. The design was inspired by another magazine website that I can’t remember the name of, as this project was done a long time ago. I was particularly proud of the animated rollover. Spa Blueskie asked me to do a small website for them as well. I think the execution was one of my best so far. The visual metaphor revolved around a professional yet warm and approachable aesthetic. The logo was inspired by the traditional Ying/Yang symbol, tweaked to suit the Spa’s aesthetic. Visit the site here.
Yen Fung Ding Dumpling Shoppe commissioned me to do a small website for them. It displays their menus, their location, a short bio of the establishment, and photo gallery. I chose a colour scheme that reflected the aesthetics of some of their branding, and added a hover effect to the menu for added clarity. Overall, a simple idea with simple execution.
